This is the "Mission Style Turned Tacqueté" draft that I made a couple years ago but I'm going for a brighter color palette this time. They're styled after the mission furniture that originated in the late 19th century. The furniture design emphasizes simple horizontal and vertical lines and flat panels that accentuate the grain of the wood. You can see these lines in the towels...it's fascinating to see how the colors mix and the back side of the towels show the colors in opposite pattern.. I changed up the original draft and made it wider, more symmetrical and different colors.
The classic cotton kitchen towel….our most used and appreciated tool in all our kitchens. We can’t live without them! They wipe up messy spills, dry our dishes, catch crumbs, and clean precious children’s faces. These colorful towels were created for your home and family. I spent many hours combining the colors I thought would express my deep and abiding love of all the glorious nature around me, then winding the warp, putting it on the loom and then….the fun part…..weaving each towel. When the batch of towels is finished they’re washed, cut apart and each one carefully hand hemmed. Then they’re washed and pressed again and ready for loving use in your home.
I’ve been using handwoven towels and napkins in my home for years now and can’t imagine using anything else. It feels good to be honoring the earth by using towels that don’t end up in a landfill. And my towels look just as nice as they did when new and they’ve become softer and more absorbent with each washing.
It’s 100% quality cotton and easy care with machine washing and drying.
I do my best to accurately photograph my towels but monitors may differ. All my photos are taken outside in natural light. Please contact me with any questions before you purchase the towel. All weaving is done by me on my lovely Louet David floor loom in my smoke-free but dog friendly home in the beautiful PNW.
