This wonderful Madrona Kitchen Soup Scoop is handmade by my husband from fallen/deceased trees on our property here in the PNW. He spends hours in his woodshop lovingly cutting, carving, sanding and finishing with these woods. We have great respect for these trees and are grateful to give them a second life with these practical kitchen tools.

This scoop is designed after an old aluminum one I found in an antique store over 25 years ago. The shape includes a wonderful little pour spout that's so practical! I fell in love with it's convenience in my kitchen serving meals to my family of 9 but wasn't thrilled with using aluminum. A couple years later I thought I'd see if my talented husband could reproduce it in wood. For over a decade now we've loved using it and have made quite a few more for family and friends kitchens too. Anyone who's helped in my kitchen has reached for our wonderful wooden soup scoop! We thought it about time we shared our Wooden Kitchen utensils with others. It's BIG.....it holds 1 full cup of soup, stew, chili or whatever you need it for.

Comment from a friend who loves hers! "We love our soup scoop! It is the perfect size for serving up your favorite comfort food. Every time we use it for entertaining we get many compliments (and inquiries). The craftsmanship is beautiful—it feels so nice in your hand—and the natural wood is wonderful. I really appreciate that it’s hand carved and finished. Such a treasure to enjoy on a regular basis!"

Pacific madrona is distributed on the Pacific Coast, from southwestern British Columbia south through Washington to western Oregon, and in the Coastal Ranges to south California. The heartwood is described as light pink to pale reddish-brown, sometimes with deep red spots. It has an irregular pattern of growth rings, which gives the wood a very decorative effect. It's a wonderful sturdy hardwood and I'm loving having these tools in my kitchen!

Hand wash and dry your wooden spoons. They should never be soaked in water.
