This wonderful skein of handspun is laden with rich earthy greens...both bright and darks, warm chocolate browns, tans and just a few pops of deep lavender. It's handpainted on a blend of Mixed Blue-Faced Leicester and silk. The mixed BFL is dark and light fiber blended together for a heatherd look. The added content of 25% silk adds sheen and extra softness and lovely drape....this skein is delightful! I've spun it into a 3 ply (chain plied) so that it will stripe a little but I purposely went for a lot of lovely mixing of the shades in this skein so the striping should be rather subtle. I love knitting with 3 ply handspun........the yarn is round,plump and full of squish....and gives great stitch definition.

Knitting with Handspun yarn is such a delight and Blue Faced Leicester is my all time favorite fiber to spin and knit with. It's sturdy yet soft and is perfect for many projects with just a bit of nice drape. For many it's next to skin soft and it's my first choice for baby and children's knits as well as for adults. Add to that the wonderful silk and you have wool at it's finest!
 
Handspun yarn is, by nature, one of a kind and imperfect. All yarns are spun by me on my sweet spinning wheels in my smoke-free but dog friendly home in rural Utah and then soaked in a lovely lavender wash, dried and re-skeined and are ready to knit your treasures. My finished skeins are measured after drying and yardage is approximated to the best of my ability. Your gauge may vary when working it up. I always recommend swatching for gauge and colorfastness when working with hand dyed products. Some dye run-off may occur with the initial washing of hand dyed goods though my handspun is soaked before drying to minimize that.
