Bring a rustic piece of nature and the sea into your home! This magnificent driftwood bowl is handmade by my husband in his woodshop or sitting outside in our forest carving, sanding, cleaning and finishing. He enjoys spending many hours wandering the coastal beaches here in the PNW and searching for that piece of driftwood that's just the right size and shape to carve out a bowl. He leaves the piece of wood as it is as much as possible to honor the greatest artist.....Mother Nature....only carving out the bowl shape, working with the lines of the wood piece and then flattening the bottom. Most driftwood looks the same....shades of grays and tans. But it's always a fun surprise when he begins carving and we can see the colors of the woods. This bowl had the unmistable scent of cedar when he began carving! The deep color of the sanded cedar inside contrasts beautifully with the natural gray of the driftwood. To be able to take these old pieces of wood, full of history and stories, and give them a second life is an honor. 
 
This bowl is perfect for displaying your own collected sea treasures or whatever else you can imagine! The shells, sea stones and sea glass in the photos are not included.
 
The timeless beauty of weathered driftwood is ageless. Driftwood isnt just dried out, it's created by a cycle of wetting and drying over a long period of time. A tree goes through a complete transformation when it lands in flowing water.....changed by the sun, wind, sand and tides. The end result of this partially decomposed wood results in a piece of nature that gives us an appreciation of ocean and sea life.
 
All of our wood pieces are hand carved and may be perfectly “imperfect” which is exactly what we love about them. Every piece is unique and no two will ever be alike. Different woods make them look even more unique.  Though we’ve cleaned the bowl well there may be some remnants of sand hidden in the wood in remembrance of it’s previous life being tossed about in the ocean and resting on the beach. The bowl is finished with water base varnish.
 
This bowl is very large and measures 37" long x 11" wide x 6" tall and weighs 12 lbs. These photos show the exact bowl you'll receive. I photograph each one individually.
