This bowl was lovingly made from a friend's tree over on Whidbey Island. They've lived there for many years and deeply loved this Willow tree!  It was a "clump" of trees and part of a pair but when the "twin" fell in a windstorm a few years ago this one was left and was precariously leaning towards their home. For safety they had to remove it. We offered to save a bit of this amazing tree (it was massive!!) by turning some bowls from it for them. Our hope was to give them a piece of their memories with this tree. They brought us a half dozen small logs and my husband set about turning. When we were finished they chose their favorites and I'm listing the rest. These photos show the exact bowl you'll receive. I photograph each one individually. And yes, they were thrilled with their bowls!!
 
Bring a rustic piece of nature and the forests of the PNW into your home! This madrone bowl is handmade by my husband in his woodshop or sitting outside in our forest carving, sanding, cleaning and finishing.  
 
Pacific Northwest Willow can be challenging to turn as it is stringy and the fibers pull easily. It's time consuming but has lovely grain and colors.
 
All of our wood pieces are hand carved or hand turned and may be perfectly “imperfect” which is exactly what we love about them. Every piece is unique and no two will ever be alike. Different woods make them look even more unique. The bowl has a food safe finish.
